Road to the White House 2024: Intro

I am so excited to have been given the opportunity to chaperone the Road to the White House trip for the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Led by an incredible professor, Dr. Judithanne Scourfield McLauchlan, this 6-credit lecture and field work course is taught every 4 years to coincide with the Presidential Primaries. Historically, this course concludes with a 10-day internship in the first-in-the-nation (FITN) primary state of New Hampshire. This year the nomination calendar shifted our focus to South Carolina as it would be FITN for Democrats and first-in-the-south for Republicans. This posed a unique challenge as the parties in SC had their nominating contests on different days. Ultimately, it was decided that we would head up for the GOP primary as it was contested between Nikki Haley and Donald Trump. In total we have 24 students with 5 on the Trump campaign, 2 on the Haley campaign, and 17 working with the SC Democratic Party.
